RMP: Portpatrick Harbour Tidal Generator

RMP Home MacharSoft Home

Portpatrick Harbour is exposed to South-West winds and lacks sufficient mooring space. It seems the ideal location for a floating pontoon with tidal generators mounted below it, perhaps feeding a thermal store with a secondary steam turbine generator after the fashion of Andrew H Mackay's Gentec Venturi design. The graphic opposite shows a possible layout.

Everybody wins on this one - the harbour is safer, we get a 4-5MW continuous-output power station, there is more mooring space and no fossil fuel is burned.

Any takers?
