Software Development Unit - Support Notes Section 3

COMAL Solutions - UniCOMAL Revision

This revision of the recently-distributed COMAL Solutions notes for the above Unit has been prepared by MacharSoft for the benefit of teachers using UniCOMAL to deliver the unit. It is NOT a production of the Higher Still Development Unit and has no official status, although it will be made freely available.

The notes have been revised to take account of differences in syntax and structure between Mac-OS COMAL/Acorn COMAL on the one hand, and UniCOMAL V3.11 on the other. Particular alterations made to the coding of the solutions include:

• '%' as integer type marker replaced by '#'
• Keyword LOCAL removed, procedures and functions CLOSED
  (with additional parameters included where necessary)
• CLS replaced by PAGE
• PRINT TAB replaced by PRINT AT
• Punctuation in variable names: 'dot' notation mentioned
• Space before opening parameter bracket removed
• 'WHEN > 70', e.g. replaced by 'WHEN mark * (mark > 70)'
• 'OF 40', e.g., appended to DIM name$(20) statements

The revised notes are here provided as MS-Word, MS-Works V4.0, Rich Text Format and MS-Windows Write files. The content is the same in each format.
