UniCOMAL V3.11 Students' is an entry-level version of UniComal V3.11, supplied on one high-density 3.5 inch diskette. It can be run on a very modest PC, and is especially suitable for use at home for programming practical exercises. It contains the interpreter, the system module, the graphics, mouse and sound modules, the interactive help system and around fifty example programs.
No manuals are included. There is a short step-by-step guide to installation under MS-Windows 95, and a Welcome Guide which takes the student through installation for DOS, getting started, configuring the system and using the program editor.
Besides the reference manuals, V3.11 Students' does not contain the following: Installation program; Compiler; Serial Communications Module (SCOM); 'C' Toolkit; Assembler toolkit; Btrieve database module; Danish, Swedish and German message systems; Help file compiler. Neither are any of the help files which accompany the above components included. All these components are supplied only with V3.11 Developers'.
Registered owners of the Students' version are entitled to upgrade to the Developers' version for the difference in (ex. VAT.) price between the two.
From 20 January 199, the Students' version is supplied with an extra diskette containing material from this website in .HTML and .ZIP format. Different, slightly more solid packaging will be introduced from February. The price remains unchanged.
UniComal V3.11 is known to run on all versions of DOS above DOS 3; on PC-compatible systems having at least 512K of RAM; on Acorn 32-bit systems with Acorn's PCSoft DOS Emulator; on Acorn RISC-PCs; on PCs running Windows 95; on DEC Alpha workstations running Windows NT; and on Apple Macs running SoftWindows.
